Travelling to Bornholm, Denmark

Bornholm is a Danish island, situated in the Baltic Sea, South-east of Sweden.

There are several ways of coming here, and I shall line up the most appropriate ones, supposing that you start off from Copenhagen.

Air:

A) Fly from Copenhagen(København) to Bornholm Air Port/Rønne by the only company operating the route:

http://www.cimber.dk/sw15040.asp

Flight time less than 30 minutes, - but one has to consider check in time, security check etc.

B) Bus from Copenhagen to Rønne (Bornholm), duration less than 3 hours, see:

http://www.bornholmstrafikken.dk/

The bus No. 866 leaves from Copenhagen, just outside the main railway station and the Sofitel Plaza Hotel (Bernsdorffsgade 4, opposite Tivoli), and drives via the toll bridge over the Øresund to Ystad in Sweden, from where the ferry will leave for Rønne, Bornholm

C) Rent a car in Copenhagen and drive via the toll bridge over the Øresund to Ystad in Sweden and take a ferry from there to Rønne. Total duration about 2½ hours.

Other possibilities:

  • night ferry from Køge (45 km South of Copenhagen), duration 6½ hours, expensive and not very comfortable
  • train from Copenhagen, same route as bus, but “famous” for its delays, which often means you will have to wait half a day or night in Ystad
  • ferry from Sassnitz, Germany, only operates in the summer time, see http://www.bornholmstrafikken.dk/

In case you choose A or B we will be glad to pick you up at the ferry/in the air port. If you choose C, we shall provide you with details about how to find us.

If you wish so, we shall be glad to book your flights Copenhagen-Bornholm and/or ferry tickets.
